Matt Frock is launching his new book on "Kickstarter!" ONLY 20 DAYS LEFT!

 Hello Friends, Family & Colleagues,
After four years of rewarding hard work, Matt Frock (my awesome husband) has written and illustrated Love Squared, a lovingly crafted work of fiction told in words and pictures for ages nine to ninety.

He is trying to raise the initial costs of running a first edition printing through "Kickstarter." Please consider visiting the link & supporting this wonderful project through your pledge/purchase of a signed, first edition copy of the book, or consider some of the other pledge options including original art works offered as rewards for your gracious support.

There are only 20 days left to fund this project!!!

WHAT IS KICKSTARTER???

Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects. Every week, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.

A new form of commerce and patronage. This is not about investment or lending. Project creators keep 100% ownership and control over their work. Instead, they offer products and experiences that are unique to each project.

All or nothing funding. On Kickstarter, a project must reach its funding goal before time runs out or no money changes hands. Why? It protects everyone involved. Creators aren’t expected to develop their project without necessary funds, and it allows anyone to test concepts without risk.

Each and every project is the independent creation of someone like you. Projects are big and small, serious and whimsical, traditional and experimental. They’re inspiring, entertaining and unbelievably diverse. We hope you agree... Welcome to Kickstarter!

      VALENTINES DAY IS ALMOST HERE!

What could possibly be a better gift than a book about falling in Love & saving the world! Supporting a great project on Kickstarter is heartwarming. A good deed, indeed! For a generous & loving pledge of 25$, you will receive a copy of “Love Squared” signed with a message from the author. (my awesome husband Matt Frock)

Can you buy multiple books?

Hecks yes!
Just add $20 to any pledge for an extra book!

Happy Love Day!!!
(Feel Free to share the Love2 with friends!)
Thank you so much for your consideration!
xx

The West Prize: Please consider voting for Terri!

Hello Friends,
(Please forgive this shameless-self-promotion-request!)

I have just completed an application for "The West Prize."
In short, The West Prize is a $25,000 prize, voted on & picked by the public through an iPhone app. (
It is a peculiar competition in that patrons can only "vote" if they have an Iphone.)
The "app" is free & can be found here.

(Like most new technology there are issues with getting the App to load consistently. If you get it to load, go to search, type in my last name, "Saulin" & then click on image of my drawing. My statement should come up, scroll to the right and the images will follow. There are 10 w/ a pink-highligted
"I Like" ... for the most votes, click "I like" for each image.... Oh boy, what a pain this is! Thanks for trying & for your patience. They never make "winning" easy! hahaha!)

The artwork with the most votes by May 14th will win $25,000!

For the "DIRTY DETAILS" of the whole process go here!
In the meantime, if you have the time and are so inclined, please vote for me.
(You can vote again every 24 hours... please do!)

Please feel free to forward this to any friends who you think may be interested!

I Had a Dream I Was Being Chased by Something Big and Invisible @ Society Hill Synagogue / Opening Reception: Friday, 12/2/11, 4:30 - 6:30pm

I Had a Dream I Was Being Chased by Something Big and Invisible

Please join Moore College of Art & Design's Critical Discourse Class, featuring the 2012 BFA candidates as we present, “I Had a Dream I Was Being Chased by Something Big and Invisible.” The opening reception will be held Friday, December 2nd, 4:30 - 6:30pm at Society Hill Synagogue, 418 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. The show runs through January 5th.

Everyone has dreams, visions, memories that have an impact on their day-to-day lives. Periodically, one stumbles upon an eerie idea that stays with them, affecting all who experience it.  While driving through the countryside, Katie Locke happened upon a sign that declared, "I had a dream I was being chased by something big and invisible." This statement has inspired nine artists from Moore College of Art & Design to bring to fruition haunting but beautiful work.

Featuring: Kaytee Della Monica, Meghan Devonshire, Rosalie Genuardi, Katherine Heilman, Gracie Lewis, Kathryn Locke, Carissa Marinelli, Kelly McCaughern, and Hayley Tomlinson.

Thank you to Society Hill Synagogue for their generous support of Moore College of Art & Design’s "Critical Discourse Class."

Gerard Brown: “ ” @ Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Opening Reception Friday, November 4, 2011 5 – 10pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tiger Strikes Asteroid is pleased to announce their November exhibition
Gerard Brown
“ ”
November 4 – December 31, 2011
Opening Reception Friday, November 4, 2011 5 – 10pm

PHILADELPHIA – Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Philadelphia’s artist-curated exhibition space presents “ ”, an exhibition of new works on paper by Philadelphia artist Gerard Brown. The show opens with a reception on First Friday, November 4, 2011. The gallery is located at 319 N. 11th Street, Philadelphia, PA. Gallery hours are Saturday & Sunday 2pm-6pm & by appointment. For additional information and images please contact our staff or gallery director Matt Sepielli, at tel. (484)-469-0319, tigerstrikesasteroid@gmail.com

The exhibit of paintings and prints continues Brown’s exploration of the intersections between reading and seeing, and its punctuated title (which can be read as “blank quote” or “smart quotes”) alludes to the use of others' words in the work. Two large pieces dominate the show; a multi-panel drawing in gouache on paper translates Frank O’Hara’s 1957 poem “To the Harbormaster” into nautical code flags, and a 32-part digital print conflates images of oceanographic satellite photography with James McBride’s bestselling 1996 memoir, “The Color of Water”. “I want to know what happens when things are misunderstood,” Brown says, “when messages that are encoded are not seen as meaningful, or when an attempt to communicate directly is seen as a formal gesture.” During the run of the exhibit, the gallery will release an essay by artist David Stephens and art writer Robin Rice that discusses the works.

Gerard Brown is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Foundation Department at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. A longtime participant in the Philadelphia art community, he contributed art reviews to the Philadelphia Weekly and Seven Arts magazine in the 1990s and, with City Paper critic Robin Rice, began eyelevel, a newsletter of art criticism that appeared occasionally throughout the late 1990s. He has organized exhibits and contributed essays to galleries and museums throughout the region, and is currently the Resident Scholar at the Center for Art in Wood, where he organized “Turning to Art In Wood: A Creative Journey” in observation of the newly re-named organization’s 25th anniversary. This is Brown’s third one-person exhibit, and his first in Philadelphia.

Tiger Strikes Asteroid is an artist-run and artist-curated exhibition space located at 319A North 11th Street, home to Vox Populi, Marginal Utility, Grizzly Grizzly, and Progressive Sharing. Our goal is to connect the Philadelphia art scene to the global art community by showing the work of emerging artists from Philadelphia and other cities such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In addition to its exhibition programs, Tiger Strikes Asteroid maintains Flat File, a collection of small-scale artworks by past, current and future exhibitors. All works in Flat File are under 9 x 12 inches and are available for sale. The collection may be viewed by appointment.

Gallery hours Saturday & Sunday, 2PM-6PM & by appointment
